18-year-old Cesur Kaplan, who comes from Silvan district of Diyarbakır, could not find what he was looking for in Denizli. When he learned that a person from his village had won a large amount of money from the competition he participated in, Kaplan felt sorry for his situation and saw his grandfather, who died years ago, in his dreams at night. Kaplan, who got excited when his grandfather said "Your luck will turn" in his dreams, decided to participate in the eating contest with a big prize, which he saw on the social media of the business in Denizli. Kaplan, who traveled 1200 kilometers from Diyarbakır to Denizli, was the guest of the competition. Kaplan, who convinced himself that he would win the grand prize by breaking the record of eating 240 garbage skewers, could only fit 120 garbage skewers into his stomach, no matter how astonished he was. Kaplan, whose dream of the grand prize, which very few people have won so far, was left unfinished, ended up losing money by paying both the travel expenses and the money for the garbage skewers he ate as per the rules.
DON'T BELIEVE EVERY GRANDPATHER
Cesur Kaplan, who was disappointed after the competition that thousands of people watched live on social media, said, “A person in Silvan district of Diyarbakır won a large amount of money in the game of chance. At that time, I was very sad, saying, 'I didn't play, it wasn't for me.' After a while, my grandfather appeared in my dream. He said, 'Son, don't be sad, your luck will change one day.' When something like this happened in my dream, I decided to participate in the eating contest that I had watched many times on social media. I came to compete but we couldn't make it. "Don't believe every dream or every grandfather, we believed in our grandfather and lost our chance," he said.
Kaplan, who could not realize his dream of returning to Diyarbakır with the grand prize, wished success to the candidates who participated in the competition that attracted great attention.
HIS DREAM WAS REVERSED
Yusuf Kaya, one of the business owners, pointed out that Cesur Kaplan had a beautiful moment even though he did not win the grand prize, and said that when he first heard about the dream, he was afraid that the record would be broken this time. Kaya said, “When he first came, he talked about the dream he had and told me about his dream. He said that his chances are good these days. He said that his grandfather came to him in his dreams. When I first heard this, I wasn't actually scared. I was afraid, "I wonder if he'll break the record?" After all, the grandfather came to his dream. Because things seen in dreams can sometimes come true, but thank God, the dream turned out to be the opposite,” he said.
WOMEN SET THE MOST RECORDS
Stating that they were surprised that more women than men broke records in the competition initiated for men, Yusuf Kaya said that the male competitors broke fewer records. Stating that competitors came from all over Turkey, Kaya said:
“In this competition we started for men, more women break records than men. Something interesting happened for us. There were also surprises here. Due to the interest shown, we had 150 - 200 record holders according to their categories in our competition, which has been going on for years. Among them, 150 are our female competitors. Unfortunately, they are less successful than men in terms of records.”
